LABOR SKILL: Round cut diamonds require a very high level of labor skill in the form of cleaving, sawing and bruting, one of the critical reasons as to why they are so expensive. The cost for each carat retained from cutting a round diamond is relatively high. Other fancy cut diamonds, such as princess cut, useless wasted material when they are being professionally cut so are typically less money carat for carat.
